PoetsJazzHouse Audience Poem 11.24.11
written by the Poets Jazz House Audience on
Thanksgiving Night, November 24, 2011
Black Friday, hmmm… I’m Black every day okay
I bring every single thing I feel with great zeal
Like Patrice O’Neal
But if you can’t handle my truth
Then you definitely deserve my lies
But you can enter my thighs
F*ck that sh*t, m*therf*ckers be on dat bullsh*t
Kiss my entire ass!
So yeah, I said it, let it be
Choke, because my name is HIV
No weapon (spiritual or physical) formed against me!
Keep HIV away from me and everybody
A sacred, holistic being is who I strive to be
But I will show you why I’m named a KOLD PIECE
I will unlock the mysteries hidden within me
I will beam, illuminating the night… then and only then…
Will you see the beauty that we are
Cosmically in tune; stars, sun and moon
Inclusive of every planet, black hole and dark matter
that my divine breath shatters and scatters
Today’s festivities was as productive as crying in the rain
The pain of yesterday still on my brain
Red dot or feather, Black face we struggle together
Ain’t thankful that you taking me on a fantasy turned nightmare
On the coldest night ever
My Native drum beats still
With a heart of solid gold and steel

His Heart
His Heartby Tuesday Conner
His heart, with all his emotions are inside his fist
No matter how hard one may try... Hs fist won't unclench
Nothing creeps out; Can't nothing seep in
How do you love a man like this?
No matter how much faith and trust I have in him
Support his every whim; Support what he does for his kids
His heart and emotions... Inside his fist stay clenched
No matter how much I give. Why do I love this man?
His heart smiles. Trying not to see me. Ignoring me. Walking past...
In his eyes... I still see The joy We shared
No matter how much support and faith I have in him...
Believe he can succeed In his dreams
I want him more than anything To be free
From strife, worries and the cares of life
Help him Innerstand Unconditional Love &
My heart bleeds Inside his clenched hand

What a life we lead
Moving everyday like the hour hand on the clock
We…Tick tock in unison
And I tried not writing this…But…
You need me to breathe
Just as I need you to live
Through you I see a perfect reflection of me
Every time I catch that gleam in your eyes
From the very moment of sun rise
And you levitate…Every time I grip your waist
What a life indeed because nothing has come easy
Yet we…Have managed to maneuver through the pains
Choosing never to relish on the disdain
We both be…Born outside of the universe
Still at times wishing to be able to fit inside that proverbial box
And blend in with the fray…But just as the moon crosses into the sun
The box becomes too minuscule
For the magnitude of our aura must be allowed to shine
And although our first encounter was captured in red…
Our story is being told with hues of the rainbow
I saw you and pursued you with the power of my thoughts
You responded by stalking me through your looking glass
Together lets untie the knots that has you in bondage
So that the rainbow can be used as our wings
Flying us into our own intended existence
Where we will rejoice in the triumph of the struggle
That we have come through
I seek new meaning because unconditionally…
I love you…I love you…I love you…
Three hundred times daily
Talk to me
Like you have never done with any other before
And I will
Put a new song in you to sing out unto the world
Love me like the ocean…Deep…
Only knowing that it never ends
Handle me with your gentleness…And let me
Savor you like the taste of cotton candy…I’m handy…
When it comes to taking your dreams from the impossible…
See…You were manifested from the fireworks bursting into
Star spangled banners
Hovering…Lingering within my solstice
You anointed me Mister T
So take hold of this perfect temptation
Created specifically for you…And lets
Let life open wide for us…Yes…
What a life…It would be…You standing palm in palm with me
What a life…I really tried not writing this…But…
I love you…I love you…I love you…
Three hundred time daily like breaking news
Because we be…Building off of hearts that pump blue…
We be…Black...Like diamonds
Sacred…
I don’t want secrets…Do not want to be a secret
Let us be known…World renowned
With this life…What I pledge to you
Breathe me…And I will live you
Believe in me…Trust in me
Let our loc’s interlock as one…connected through
God and the universe spinning continuously on its axis
And we will dance in the essence…Of each other forever
Tango…Cha Cha…Two Step…With me
You are right…What a life
Lets work it out…push the fear out
Let faith guide you as you continue to walk right
Right into what you have…
Wished…Asked…Dreamt…Prayed…Cried
For
Awake from your sleep into the reality of your dreams
And flourish in the unconditional…With me

I Gotta Do This
I Gotta Do This
by Breeze Vincinz
Homework from Nov. 3, Written @ the PJH
I gotta do this
Take care of my beats
Take care of my teeth
Take care
Of my fam
Don’t fall for the flim flam
Make that money
Not the kind that’s funny
Tho I know ain’t nothing funny
When you ain’t got none
I gotta do this
Love and care
Put afro sheen on my bald head
Give love
To my fam
Don’t fall for the flim flam
Say what I need to say
Even if it ain’t the popular way
Like my love for being Black or my shame for being gay
But not all the time
I gotta do this
Acknowledge the Creator
Brought me here from the Equator
Acknowledge
My fam
Don’t fall for the flim flam
Know my breath is a gift
All the rest is bullshit
The ego is counterfeit
There is only love
At The End of It All...
Homework emailed in from
Ingez Rameau-Compean
At the end of it all... What I have I got
At the end of it all.. What have I done
At the end of it all... looking back - was it worth it all
At the end of it all... IS A NEW BEGINNING
for Love and Light, for music, for a new step to our Higher Self
Warmly, Ingez
